So we wanted to share a little slice of our brewery life, and the work of our nonprofit partners, by getting together to talk about things we’re passionate about. Our goal is to give you insight into what it's like to work and live here in Portland, Maine, with some beer thrown in for fun. Thanks for listening!
From Maine, With Love - An Allagash Brewing Podcast
S4 Episode 7: What's an Internship at Allagash like?
In this episode, we introduce the world to Ryah, our Social Media & Content Intern. You'll learn the answers to the questions: what does a brewery internship entail? What sort of people even work at a brewery? And what the heck is it like to dive into the business behind marketing craft beer?
And, oh by the way, we've got some delicious beer on the docket. There's the instant hit Tropical Lime IPA. There's a brand new From Maine, With Love beer. It's #41, our Tart Summer Ale. And also a couple very exciting events that you can be a part of. Give it a listen.
This is From Maine with Love, an Allagash Brewing Podcast where we talk about beer, our community here in Maine, and the fact that I just ate three whole dang hot dogs. That wasn't a good idea. Such a good idea. We'll see. We'll see. If I start flagging or if I start to like pass out halfway through the episode, you'll know why. Stay hydrated. We had a hot dog party at the brewery. It was very nice. It was, yeah. Red snappers. Very well attended. Two people dressed in hot dog costumes, which is a doubling. It's a hundred percent increase in hot dog costumes year over year. Put that on the stat board. And the B Corp report. That's a big win, yeah. That's a big win we have today. Double the hot dog costumes. Double dogs. All right, so on this episode of the Alec Ashburn Company Podcast, we have Liz Wilson, Senior Marketing Management Manager. We have Brett Willis, me, Senior Communication Specialist. We have Raya Lempert, Social Media Intern. Is that correct? Did I just make that up? Yeah, Social Media and Content Creation. Social Media and Content Creation. I think that was my bad idea of naming conventions. Could have added a few more on there. It's shorter than my pass rolls. Okay, great. What an improvement. That's awesome. And so we have to start with our secret question. And we're going to start with you, Raya, because I haven't thought of one for Liz yet. And the question for you, Raya, is what's your favorite breed of horse? Whoa. Okay, well... I am biased, but my horse is a Welsh Arabian Cob. Kind of like the mutts of horses. Oh, Welsh Arabian Cob. Not really, but he was just a little bit of everything. So love them dearly. What is specific to that breed? Like what makes them who they are? Kind of their build. He's small. Okay. Just small. Yeah. Not small as a miniature horse. No, but like their legs are a little bit more stubby. Okay. Good for riding. Yeah. He was great. Good for jumping. Good for jumping. Oakley. Yeah. Wow. That's a great name for a horse. Oakley? Is he still with us? Yes, he is. Oh, I know. I was concerned. I know I'm bad at that. That's okay. Yeah, he's named after the sunglasses. Oh, wow. Okay. Does he have his own pair? No. Oh, that would be pretty cool. We have any potential sponsors listening. And you make horse sunglasses. If you want to level up like a true chalice head, you'll sponsor us for horse sunglasses. Well, they kind of have them with the blinders for racehorses. Yeah, yeah. That's cool. Oh, man, that's good. That's awesome. Wait, how high was the highest jump that you were doing? Oh, well, he was small. So, like, on him... not like to his shoulder up to his knee yeah like two foot okay all right that's cool but that was just like for fun we didn't compete in yeah that i i have ridden a horse yeah and it is intimidating as hell those are gigantic beasts yeah yeah they're just big yeah i love them What's your favorite breed of horse, Liz? I think you've asked me this before. I think Fred just likes to talk about horses. I don't know what I said. I used to just love saying Palomino ponies. They're cute. There's the Appaloosas. Yeah, that's a cool name. They're pretty. Yeah. Real good breeds. Yeah. Can't go wrong with a draft horse too. They're so big. So big. It's really fun. I got kicked in the head once. Whoa. Yeah. I was fine. Well, I mean. On purpose? No. I mean, obviously you weren't like, hey, come kick me in the head. Was the horse mad at you or was it just a. No, I was. It was one of my like, like this was when I was like pretty young. We were jumping and it was like our first time jumping and he jumped it like. six feet in the air that's dramatic but like very high it was like maybe like five inches off the ground the jump um and he like rocketed over it and then i like had never jumped before so he's like oh fell onto his neck which like freaked him out then he like went up i went off hit my head like on the ground and then he kicked me oh yeah i don't remember did you have a riding helmet yeah yeah i had a helmet um I'm glad you're okay. Yeah, me too. It's dangerous. What if the answer was like, yeah, it's part of a TikTok challenge? Who's the strongest horse girl? You get the horse to kick you. Yikes. Don't make that into a TikTok challenge, please. Whoever is listening, don't do that. Brett, I got you a secret question for you. We just workshopped this over hot dogs. Oh, really? What was your first legal... It could have been an Allagash White. No way. Honestly, it was either that or Blue Moon. It was a pitcher of wheat beer in Waterville, Maine. Oh, wow. I remember it. Oh, man, it was a weird freaking experience. It was really weird. Because I was at a bar, and I was there with my friends and my girlfriend at the time, and we were all there like, woo, we're here, and it's my first legal drink. And some woman came over and gave us all feathers. And then a weird burpee. type of doll. Literally. Yeah. She like gave it to us and she's like, this is for you. And I just was like, what the heck? You're like, if this is what, was that the first beer of the evening? It was not her first beer of the evening, but it was certainly ours. Anyway, it was a weird experience, but it was very fun. So yes, it was a pitcher of wheat beer of some sort. So that's cool. Yeah. I've been giving you a real secret question in, uh, in a while and I've got one for you right now, Liz. And that's your question is what's your favorite holiday? I do enjoy Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a holiday that levels up as you get older, for sure. I love eating all day long. I love the parade. I love the parade. I don't know what it is. Yeah, I don't know what it is either. It's just classic. Just sipping a coffee, watching that parade. I'm always eating cinnamon buns. That's our extra dish. Cinnamon buns parade. Do you make them? I feel like some years we have, but not recently. Yeah. Cause I usually get them from tandem here and they're just fricking delicious. Those are ridiculous. But yeah, Thanksgiving is a good one. I, yeah. I agree with that. Might be my favorite. Capitalism on parade. I love it. I'm trying not to think about that. Anywho. I had that revelation and I just got beyond it and I just like now embrace it where I'm like, yeah. Oh, come on. Get those balloons. Yeah, the balloons. I'm like, is it going to be windy? Is it rainy? Those poor people. Which beloved character's head's going to deflate? I have an aunt that actually rides in the float every year, and she does like the wing or something. What? What does she get to be? Oh, really? Yeah. Of the turkey? She's part of the turkey wing, yeah. Wow, that's a big deal. Every year, it's a big deal for our family. Wow. She's in there. Good flapping. I think it's like a second hand or a great hand. She's really feeling it. Yeah. She won't stop. She's been working out all year. The crossfit's really paying off. That's three flaps a second. They can't keep up on the other side. She's really showing them up. It's going in circles. He's starting to lift off. Judy's out of control. Oh, my God. I'm going to be on the lookout for that. Which way? To the left or right? I don't remember. That's hot. She's there over there. I want to know. I'll let you know this year. I'll find out more information. Good, good. We'll let everyone else know, too. It's never that proper, honestly, because you can't really see her. So you're just like, well, I don't know. It's kind of doing its thing. It's moving. Good job. She's the only person I know in the parade. Yeah. Oh, good. Okay, that's funny. Nice. All right, Raya. We have some questions for you because you've been with us, how long is it now? A month or two? Ooh, I don't know. I started the like... I think it's been like three months, right? Three months? Yeah, like third week of May. It was like May 20th. Yeah, like third week of May, give or take. 19th, May 19th. That feels like both a long time and a short time. That's like a year in social media terms. Yeah, we already covered my first question. We don't need to ask that. Being on a podcast before, you have not. This is your first podcast. I have not. This is my first podcast. Nice. Very excited. Yeah, happy to have you. Super serious. Yeah, obviously. I was really expected to get into that wing flapping. I didn't expect nothing less. Yeah, this one I'm actually really interested in because I feel like this is something that like every single person who works at Allagash, unless they've worked at another brewery beforehand, has gone through. But like, what was your experience? expectation of working at a brewery versus what working at a brewery has been for you? I think once I like knew I was working here, I was like, wow, this is going to be a really fun job. And it's totally exceeded my expectations. Like this is the most fun job ever. Everyone here is so kind. The like first day I got here, I felt like I had been here forever because everyone was like, oh, hey, right. I'm like, how do you know my name? Wow. Yeah. And I just everyone here is the best. I've learned so much in however long it's been. That's good. I'm glad to hear that you've learned something from people here. There's a lot to learn beer-wise, for sure. Oh, so much beer-wise. And also, like, marketing-wise. I appreciate that. That's good. So, what do you spend your time doing? What's your day-to-day? How would you explain it? I think, like, In the grand scheme, content. I spend a lot of time walking from marketing office to the tasting room, which is good. Good time to stretch my legs. And then filming content over there. Everyone there is also super kind when I walk over. They're like, okay, how can we help you? What are you filming today? I think they're also just excited to see what I'm filming or taking photos of. And then, yeah, I usually walk back here, edit it, see if it needs tweaks, probably walk back over there at some point again. Um, yeah, I think a lot of it's just like shooting content, editing it, um, finding ideas. Yeah. Um, do you feel like your studies have helped you at all in preparing you for this? Um, yes and no. I think, um, my major was communication. So it was more like people based and like how you're communicating with people. But my interest has always been like marketing and social media side. And I did take a few social media classes that definitely helped. That's crazy. Just like looking for trends and how to like tap into a trend. So that's really cool. But yeah, it's like hard to say. I feel like I never really got experience until I started like working in like a social media job. Cause it's also changing every single day. Um, social media is a crazy place to work in. Um, cause like one trend is getting millions of views one day and then zero the next day. It's yeah. Yeah. Did your, did your, so what was the class like was like social media and yeah, it was like intro to social media or social media marketing, something along those lines. Um, Yeah, we did a lot of case studies in that class, which was really cool. My all-time favorite project that we did was we had to come up with a marketing strategy for a company. And I did mine on pasta straws, which was super, super cool. What are pasta straws? Does it exist? Yeah. You can buy them. They're like a super eco-friendly straw. And it's like legit made of pasta. So as long as you're not putting it in like boiling water. It's a great straw. Drinking my usual boiling water in the morning. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't put it in your tea. I used to use Twizzlers as straws. Oh, yeah. Also a great idea. Yeah. I love the marketing plan for them. Yeah. That's cool. Yeah, that was a cool project. That's cool. And I feel like that project gave me probably the most insight just because it was like more hands-on and looking at the websites that they already have and then how to implement a new strategy. Yeah.
UNKNOWN:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Do you have any additional questions to what I have? No, I think it's, we don't really talk about marketing and or our social media strategy. We always think of, I guess, you, myself. Matt, we do this podcast and I know that you all listening think, wow, they must dedicate a lot of time to this really high quality podcast, but we actually do a lot of other things and social media is one of them among a lot of things. So we were really excited when we got approved to hire someone to help us with content. And It's been a minute since we've been doing this for years and years. So it was great to talk to somebody with fresh perspective who is like really just like has grown up in that world. And so we've just loved having you help us out. And I would just say it's been a big, it's been great. I feel like it's in the true spirit of being here too, of like when you have someone new join, it's like, tell us what you know. Yeah. Like I'm not here to teach you. I'm here to hear what you have to say about what we're doing to just get this fresh perspective because there is so much constantly happening and so much more than there ever was. So it's like beneficial to take advantage of that. I think what always interests me too is like everyone has such a different social feed. Like no one's, for you page is the same or on both Instagram or TikTok or any social media platform you're using these days. And so I also like working in a team because then you like are seeing like, oh, like this was on yours. This was on yours. Yeah. This is all mine. Did you ever think that one of the things you would be doing was stuffing a moose with recycled plastic? You know. And then planning for its head to fall off. Yeah, and then trying three times to make its head fall off. Yeah. I can't say I did. That is one of the fun things about social media. It truly is something different every day. And when I go home and people are like, oh, what did you do at work today? I'm like, well, let me tell you. It's never the same. And some of the things. I'm like, I stuffed a moose. And they're like, huh? Why? For a job. And we will talk about it. We're going to talk about why we stuffed that moose. As a brief aside, I feel like you entered into our social media world at the right time because I feel like we're just in this mode of trying stuff and having fun. Which I think is very much a part of the Allagash ethos that we kind of have moved towards and away from in different ways and we're kind of digging into that now, which has been really fun. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like you can relate it to our beer innovation where there's just a lot of creative ideas that you try some out and some work and some don't and you kind of keep pushing forward. Yeah. Some just make us laugh. We definitely have a category of things that just make us laugh, and that is a totally legit reason to do something. I feel like that's one of the best indicators that it's good. I don't even know if I've mentioned it on this podcast, but that's a thing you can do if you are showing somebody something creative that you've done is don't watch the thing. Watch their face. And if they smile, if they chuckle, you can tell it's good. But if they're straight-faced and they're like, that's funny, you're like, oh, no. I actually don't believe you. Yeah. You're just being nice to me. All right. We've got two more little questions for you, Raya. What has surprised you most about Allagash? I don't know if it's, like, surprised is even the right word, but I think coming, like, to work for this company, I had no idea how amazing of a company Allagash is, just, like, in everything you do. That's very nice. I don't know. I think like, obviously I was like, oh, they make beer. Great. And then when I was like... Hot dog barbecue. I know. Like that was literally the best part of my job. But then like when I was applying and looking like through the website, I was like, wow. And I just constantly was being like shocked by all the like... I don't know, community engagement. Yeah. So many like donations, a B Corp. Oh yeah. Pancakes. Pancakes. Pancakes. Pancakes made by your coworkers. Yeah. Oh my gosh. That also, I was having like a horrible morning and I came in and Matt was making pancakes and I was like, okay, today's so much better. Yeah. Turn it around. Yeah. But just in general, like Allagash is an amazing company that is doing really great stuff in the world, which I also love. really enjoy because I want to make sure I like what I want in the world is like to do good yeah and Alec Ashley's doing good that's good yeah you gotta we got a beach cleanup next week oh yeah super excited about that that's a good stuff East End beach cleanup yeah I hope it's sunny too that'd be hopefully it's a nice day yeah um all right and the last one Do you have a favorite thing that you have sipped here? Alcoholic, non-alcoholic, doesn't really matter? Absolutely. Well, I definitely came to Allagash not really being a beer drinker at all. And then our first week, all the new hires sampled beer, which is also so cool. And it totally opened my eyes to how many different types of beer there are, and I definitely found what I like. That's cool. Alley Dash White, obviously. It's a great, great beer. It was a great starting beer. But currently, my all-time favorite that I think I could drink all the time is Tropical Lime IPA. Oh. Not just because a can of it is sitting in front of you. I know. I'm like staring at it. I keep looking at it. I'm like, is she drinking that? Yeah, you know. But oh my gosh, it's so good and so refreshing. It is. Yeah. Yeah, that's a new one. New one out in our tasting room. So you have to come on by. What a perfect segue into talking about Tropical. Wasn't it purposeful? It truly is my favorite. Honestly, I would agree. It's the beer that I'm the most excited to introduce people to. I just was visiting my brother's sister-in-law and gave them some. They were like, what? So did my dad. Dad, who's like a very much dad's just straightforward, you know, maybe have a beer or two. But he just was like, this is really good. Yeah. So. Yeah, I got my friends to drink it, who also aren't beer drinkers. They're like, wow, this is good. Yeah, yeah, they loved it. That's cool. That's awesome. That's very cool. Yeah, where do we want to start? This is an idea from Patrick. Patrick, who's been on the podcast many times. Many times, okay. I can kind of give the brief rundown. Because I was on the pilot team while it was kind of in production, so I went through some different things. So basically... Margarita-inspired beer. Margarita, I did not know this, most popular cocktail in America. I've heard that, which is surprising. Right? It's kind of like a humble, like, yeah, of course, people like margaritas. I feel like it doesn't get the social buzz the way you're like Aperol Spritz and you're, I don't know, but maybe it's just like low-key chugging along. I think it's just by sheer volume, people are just like, yeah, I'll have a Marg. It's a classic go-to. It's an everyday drink. Yeah.
UNKNOWN:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:So not meant to be a margarita, but inspired by some of those flavors. So you have these sort of tropical hop aromas coming from Crystal Citro Mosaic and Sabro. Sabro, I think, is actually a pretty cool one because it actually has like a coconut aroma to it, and it's a hop. But somehow it gives this kind of coconut, which adds to that sort of like tropicalness of it. So it's not an overly hoppy beer. You just get these sort of like tropical notes, and you have like legit lime juice in the beer. It gives you this... really beautiful lime hit that you're like. I feel like that is the- That's the hook. That's the hook of this beer, is this really nice lime flavor. And the funny thing about this is we brew the first version. People are like, that's amazing, but is it too much lime? And we brewed another version with tweaks. And people are like, I don't know. Like a lot of comments. And then we just brewed the first version again. And everyone was like, oh, it's perfect. You got it. You nailed it. But it is like a little bit outside of our standard Allagash balance, I would say, that we usually have a very light hand when it comes to any particular flavor, and that's why this, to me, is so exciting, because you're like, it's not a hint of lime. It is. It's pretty limey. It's there. It's a blast. It's a blast. It's a blast. Yeah, it's a flavor blast. A blast of lime. And it's 5.8%, so it's not that low, not high. I love that. Really nice. Yeah. Yeah, sometimes those IPAs are just a little too much for me. A little too much. Yeah. And... available in our tasting room currently yeah and uh you know i'm going to describe something i'm looking at which is like never a great podcast um etiquette but you know the can is so fun it's so fun we've got it's just like gives real beach vibes and so i feel like it really pulls it Todd has, I think Todd, our designer, he has many talents, but I think the talent I'm always the most impressed by is his ability to put together color palettes. Like the colors just always work so well together. And this is, I think the absolute pinnacle of you see the beer and it delivers exactly on the flavor that you expect from the color palette. It's really cool. Yeah, it's like a couple boats have boated out to an isolated island or a sandbar, and they're taking some time out there. There's a little hammock, some palm trees, and the fronds are lime wedges. There's some other activities going on there, but it's a real vibe. It's like an ombre of lime green to tropical blues. Yeah. Oh, it's good. Yeah. It's a banger. It's a real banger. It came out literally like last week, and I think people have been really enjoying it and tasting it, which is awesome. This next one. I should take it. You take it. Take it away, Liz. Brett, tell us about From Maine With Love 41. From Maine With Love 41 is a tart summer ale. That was actually my pilot idea. Yay! Thank you. That's beer. I'm like, I'm like so, level up. You want to level up, child sense, you get From Maine With Love 41. I, yeah, I'm very like critical of this beer. I like it a lot. I think I'm just like, I'm like looking at it through a fine tooth thing and even being so critical I really like it. It's doing exactly what I was hoping it was going to do. So it's very fun. Tart Summer Ale. Yeah. Talk about, okay. You got to talk about Kernza. Yeah. I can talk. I'll do the brief version. Yeah. It started as a beer called Kernza Goza. That was your submission. That was my pilot submission. And so a Goza is kind of like a lightly tart beer. German style of beer with sea salt, actually a little bit of sea salt adds a little bit of refreshment to it. And so normally that's brewed with wheat, a certain portion of wheat. And I thought, well, let's take that wheat away and let's brew it with Kernza, which Kernza is a really cool grain. It's regenerative. I think it adds nutrients back into the soil. It has very long roots is apparently the thing. It goes past where other plants are like, you know, types of what is it? Cereal crops can go or like, it does a lot of great things for the environment. And so basically I wanted to try that out, see how it tasted and it ended up being really nice. And so this is a low ABV. Um, I don't think it's at this point still technically it goes, uh, it's kind of in that style, but we have a little bit of tartness, very light hint of sea salt. You like hardly get it, but you'll just be like, Ooh, this is a nice crisp and refreshing. And, um, I wouldn't say the Kearns is like popping out at you. We didn't really even like kind of advertise it as much. We're just kind of talking about it on the back because it's a really cool aspect of the year, but it's like easy drinking summer beer. Um, I just learned that we get the salt from a main company called slack tide and we use it in our cocktail, our, our, uh, sea salt, vodka, lemonade cocktail, which I think is very tasty. And I could taste the salt in this as well. And I was like, Hmm, That's got a little salinity. Yeah. Very good salt. Yeah. That's good. It's great. That's really cool. Maine salt. Yeah. Maine salt. That's awesome. Maine sea salt. Yeah. So that's a brewery only one as well. Yeah. We got a lot of fun stuff. Yeah. Yeah. That board is looking good these days. Nice. Okay. We have a lot of things coming up. Yeah. The first one. We have our friends at Hearts of Pine. We have a watch party happening here at the brewery on Saturday, July 19th while they have an away game. And so we'll invite you all to join us in our great room, which is a... not often use public space, so good luck to us getting people in the right spot. Lots of signage. Follow the signs. I volunteered myself to just stand out in the parking lot and like... You should get a sign spinner. Yeah, I'll just wave the hearts of the sign flag. I was thinking of like a Rob Todd shaped wacky waving guy that's just like... I love those. Squiggly. We can use squiggly as many times today as possible.
UNKNOWN:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:But we are, we're making it a bash. We're going to have music. Live music. Skip Bailey, who joins us pretty often here at the brewery. We have Food Truck come in from PB and Me. And we've got some new super cool merch. We just posted some pictures on the old Instagram, so check it out. And that will be for sale as well as Kickabout Lager, our collab beer with them, and some other delicious beers, Allagash White, maybe Variety Pack. And then the game will start at 7 p.m. And open to the public, free. Yeah, on the literal big screen. It's a gigantic projector. Oh, yeah, it's a giant screen. Big room. Big room. Lots of hype. Great room. Great room. Big room, great room. Yeah. Big, great room. Hearts of Pine is going to run a very cool raffle during halftime, so there's some good prizes to be had. Yeah. Yeah. Come on by. Speaking of merch, when are we getting some Chalice Head merch? Oh, man. I haven't been thinking about that quite a bit. Oh, my God. At least there's a sticker. I think it's got to be a hat. Looks like a chalice off the top. I don't know. It's a big, like, just chalice head. We can set Todd to work on this. Oh, man. Yes. All right, sorry, sorry. Send us a message. Send us a message. What should we have on our Chalice Head merch? Shaheen's out there. Shout out to Shaheen. Shout out to Shaheen. Thank you, Shaheen, for bringing up Chalced. That was amazing. That was amazing. That made us feel so good. It really did. It made us feel like someone's listening out there. I appreciate it. Okay. What's the next event, Liz? Well, I feel like the two of you should talk about... Oh, yeah. The Moosecapades. Yeah. Yeah. The River Cruise. River Cruise. So this is part of our 30th anniversary. Mm-hmm. events I can set the stage the stage is literally that Rob Todd back in the very early days of Allagash got pitched by the advertising agency they were working with at the time to put a canoe a placard with Allagash white on it and a stuffed moose and a stuffed bear on top of a car and just drive around And they did. And it was like actually effective at like getting the Allagash name out there. The canoe had Allagash Brewing Company written on the side. So we had this like historic photo from like 97 or something like that of Rob leaning on the hood of a car. And so we're like, you know what? 30th anniversary. Let's have some fun. We're going to recreate this. So we bought a moose from what? Canada? Canada. Where'd this moose costume come from? Bangladesh. It wasn't the dark web. She's on Silk Road. You paid for it in Ethereum? PayPal, basically. Untraceable moose costume. I had to explain the invoice with a little bit more detail. It wasn't in English, I'll tell you that much. Oh, wow. To finance. They were like, what is happening here?
UNKNOWN:Why?
SPEAKER_00:It needed a moose. It's hard to find a moose costume. It was hard to find the right moose costume. There's a lot of moose stuff out there. It is quality. Just FYI, if you're in the market for a moose costume, not inexpensive, not inexpensive. Yeah, allow some time for that delivery, too. That moose costume, if you see it start popping up in every social media post, it's because we've got to get our money's worth for this dang moose costume. Got to boost the ROI on that moose. Rob is super into the idea, but he is very bummed that we don't have the OG moose. Please do not bring that up. Don't bring that up to Rob. If you see him, we are begging you. Don't talk about the OG moose. And so what Raya and I did was we recreated that, the literal putting together of the thing to hype up this event. And the event being when we're going to be literally driving around town with a canoe and a moose and a placard of Allagash White on top of the car. And we're going to be going to some bars that we are great friends with and that we're really excited to be sort of they're hosting us pretty much. So it's Great Lost Bear. On the 24th of July. Flatbread on the 30th of July. Luke's Lobster at the Portland Pier location on the 31st. Thirsty Pig on the 7th of August. And Doc 4 on the 14th of August. All those are 4 to 6 p.m. Rob and Jason. Are they there at every single one? I think so.
UNKNOWN:Man.
SPEAKER_00:We also– I love that we basically voluntold Kevin, our local sales rep, that he– He's the car. We have the right car. You've got the right car, so you will be driving this around. Don't go through any ATMs. No. Parking garages? No. That was why the placard of yore did not survive because some guy went through an ATM. Yeah. Ask that about us later. Yeah. That's probably another thing. You're like, hey, parents, I do need our car to do this thing at work. Yeah. For a photo shoot, we strapped it to my Subaru, my red Subaru. That's right. It looked like the car. It did really look, it did. It was a really good job looking like it. Yeah. Strapped it to my car. Sent my parents a picture. They were like, Okay. Don't worry about it. Yeah. It worked out amazing. The head fell off on the third try. Yeah, it was great. The head kept getting stuck on a pole that we had put through the moose costume to hold it up. And it would like tip back and then stop. And so we had to figure it out. Shout out to Raya for having the last frame be a jump cut to a much closer shot of the top. Yeah, that, yes. It makes me laugh every time. Oh, man, I loved it. I saw that and I was like, God, I love that scene. So glad we did that. And then this last one, it's not so much a thing that anyone can go do, but it was something that was just like so fun and particularly allagash. I wanted to let the listeners in on it. Cause I feel like it was like, it's a real view into like the company of what we did. So it was our 30th anniversary, uh, party at Lenny's at Hawks Plaza, internal party, internal party, just staff as a, as a little, uh, it was both a 30th party, but also a sendoff for one of our long time, um, uh, coworkers, Oli, who is an incredible, potentially the, uh, the inspiration for Garth of, uh, in Wayne's world. This is, this is like both a kind of not real, but also kind of like potentially really plausible thing that is real because he was interviewed on like old. Have you ever seen Wayne's world? Nope. Oh, I have no idea what you're talking. That actually might hold up. That's a really, it's Mike Myers. You did Austin powers and then all sorts of others. They did the cat in the hat. Very scary. Very bad. Anyway, sorry.
UNKNOWN:Uh,
SPEAKER_00:I'm not going to get into it. No, Oli was a drummer in like a metal band that was... What do they call it? Doom? Trouble. Doom Metal, but it was Trouble. Yeah, yeah. Like literally like one of this like pantheon of like four Doom Metal original bands and he was a drummer in that one. And so, yeah, it was amazing. So Rob got on stage. We didn't even know... I feel like there was a podcast here. Rob was like, I'm going to play and we're like... Yeah. I didn't believe him. I didn't believe him at all. I didn't either. I didn't even know he had... Played an instrument. He was playing up there on stage with Oli. He was bass. Yeah, Rob was playing bass. Oli was on drums. And then Alex Proach was on. Yeah, Broach. That was a new nickname maybe in that moment. I'm not sure. What was it for Rob? Because it was Rob, Oli, and Broach. Rob. Rob, yeah. And he played guitar. Yeah. And it was great. They played a couple songs. And it was, yeah, just for staff. And they crushed it. And Lenny's is also just such a particular venue. Like, they're so fun. I don't know. Yeah, I think not only is it on the way home for Rob, but one of his favorites. It stops there. That's cool. I think there was a high ratio of I've driven by this place to I have been to this place. But I think everyone left with a very much newfound appreciation. I'll go back. What was your favorite food? I was just going to say that buffalo chicken dip was like. Buffalo chicken dip was good. That was really good. I don't know. They also had a really good brie. I don't know where that came from. I'm really curious. It was very creamy. It was really good. Good brie. Nothing to sneeze at. I like the wings. Great, great full dead cover band after. Great. Oh, yeah. They were fun. Yeah, they crushed it too. That was fun. there was a groundhog just hanging out the whole time. That like really made me laugh. I was like, where'd this groundhog? I didn't see it. Where was it? It was like at the closest house, but it was just like, it just like sunning itself in the yard while there's just like very loud music. And it was like, well, you guys are in my space. There when I got there, there when I left. Really? I never got pointed out to me. That's amazing. Was it stuffed? It was actually fake. This was a real groundhog. Lenny trained it. I think Lenny's might be one of the first places to pour algae gosh white too though oh really I think that might be real that checks out I think it is because proximity to the brewery because I feel like I've heard Rob talk about that when we talk about Great Lost Bear because it is the first but then he's like yeah Lenny's soon after so yeah they're so lovely and such a fun it turned out to be a really pretty evening yeah if all of you want just to see something that'll make you feel warm and fuzzy but also make you laugh go up to HR's desk and they have a receipt from that night of our bar tab. And it's the longest list slash scroll of Allagash White you've ever seen. Because it's every individual order of Allagash White. That's amazing. How long is it? Feet? It's probably like four and a half feet maybe. That's incredible. I mean, there were a lot of us there. It was very responsible. Yeah, very responsible. But a lot of people get some Allagash White. You got to celebrate. It's the 30th. Yeah. Big deal. Maybe I'll cut that out. It sounds like we drank a lot. There's a lot of us. There's a lot of us. That's okay. What is this receipt? And then I looked at it. I was like, oh, gosh, wait, oh, gosh, wait. And then I looked at the top. I was like, Lenny's. I was like, I mean, that's your average CVS receipt. So CVS, I was like,$5 off. Frame it for Scarborough. Yeah, we should just frame it. We should social post. Just keep going. I like that. Yeah, that'd be pretty good. Thanks, Lenny's. And thank you all for listening.
